No, I won't hold my breath. But I'm cautiously optimistic: this land will have cost a bundle so the developer is probably not intending to sit on it for a decade or four.

Adding to my own post: this property is just over 1 ha (close to 3 acres) so the price tag would have surely been somewhere between $10M and $20M.

I'm wracking my brain and I can't feature anything on that site, going back to the 1960s.  Could it have been a parking lot for the old Doon Twines (Canada Cordage) plant?  I seem to have a vague recollection of a lumber yard there, but I may be confusing it with the place that used to be across Charles, on the actual Junction site.
Maybe someone else has a better memory.

Riordan car rentals? But the current owner is MTD.

If/when MTD decides to move, that will be a huge opportunity for infill development.

Yes, now that you mention it ...  It's hard to remember - it has always been such a "nothing" bit of town (that stretch of Charles between Borden and Stirling).

Does MTD still manufacture at the Kitchener location?  I used to associate them with lawnmowers, but I have no idea what they do nowadays.

I remember a truck rental location there, can't remember which dealer.  I don't remember a Beaver Lumber but I do remember the Copp's Buildall across the street.

Nice work Tom, 1975!  Where did you dig that up from?
Ironically, I go through the program and one of the players in there from London is somebody that worked for a local wholesaler that I did business with.  This program is from 15 years before I met him!
Good to see some of those old names in there.  Ponderosa, Ali Baba, Mother's...
Thx Tom
