Ouch, 38 seconds per the timestamp in the bottom left corner.  That's painful.

I think it was in Manual... there's a worker in the bungalow

Ah, so that’s how they’re getting around the problems... they’re actually not sorted then. Yikes.

December!

That makes the long time even stranger. Can’t they see that it’s safe to raise the arms as soon as the vehicle has cleared the crossing?

On another note I made an oops at that crossing right after the time of that dashcam video which I ummm.... possibly conveniently trimmed

Basically after the arms went up and lights stopped flashing I started moving in response... I went past the stop line then realized the traffic lights were still red! And stopped again. Then it turned green and I proceeded.
Wondering if maybe that timing could be better?

It's an issue that can be sorted by December..... even if it means waiting for CN's take over of freight operations in November

Don’t be embarassed!

That’s a great discovery, and shows a big hole in the overall design. If you, an LRT enthusiast aware of the overall design and function of the intersection made that error, it means it’ll happen almost every time to the general public.

It would be worth sending your video (Untrimmed!) to the project team.

Is it just something with your camera, or was the red traffic signal actually flashing?

That would be bad, a red flashing signal means something very different (stop and proceed when clear) than a solid red signal (stop and wait).

Thanks for that feedback! I'll email them and try explaining what happened first and see if I can clear up that design. Will post back when I get something.

That's something with my camera. The red traffic signal was not flashing

It has to do with the electronic refresh rate of the LED lights in the traffic light and the capture rate of the camera.

You don’t see it with incandescent lights because they glow hot and hold their illumination. Led’s dont do that.

It's pretty funny, we have a bedroom lamp which tries to dimmer the bulb by blinking. Now that we have an LED, it blinks. Ha.

So I tried to look in the cab of the LRT as I was on Laurel Trail today and it sort of looked like the big missing box was there. I'll try to look more closely tomorrow.

The box, you mean where the specialized equipment goes?  In the last report in July, 502, 503 and 504 were first to get it installed here.   I have yet to hear on the radio that these vehicles are testing yet.

Maybe we will hear more today at the council meeting!

Public confirmation that 511 shipped Monday with the FIE installed.

If someone who is knowledgeable about such things could please post the link to the update from the Region’s site when it is available it would be appreciated.
