TextNow is significantly larger than I thought (I didn't even know that EnFlick had changed their name) , great to see them get some local exposure. Too bad their products are not available in their home country.

Astonishing, really. The Canadian consumer seems to have an unlimited tolerance for being screwed over.

I don't think there is really much the Canadian consumers can do about this (or other offerings not available in Canada, such as Pandora). You could write emails or letters, but it's rare for such a campaign to actually sway a major corporation.

True. The ketchup thing has been interesting precisely because displays of consumer power are so rare in this country.

Ketchup is also pretty ubiquitous so that helps drive that. I don't even know what textnow and pandora are so it's hard for me to want them or care about them.

I don't know a lot about this, but is this another example of the big guys (rogers/bell) boxing out any competition?

Not an example as such, no. The lack of competition (Rogers, Bell, Telus dominate the market) has something to do with the reasons, but the US market is also dominated by a small number of companies (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile) so that's not all of it.
