It's just after 8pm and I'm awaiting the first results to trickle in. I'm not watching all the results, because I'm not following every race, but I will have my eye on a lot of elections across the region. I figured I'd make a thread for discussion of all the results in one place.
The big question, of course, is who wins Regional Chair?
The Region's now reporting about 1/3 of polls in with Ken Seiling ahead with a 2:1 lead. The individual cities and townships haven't reported much yet, so I'm not sure where they got those numbers. Everywhere that's started reporting, though, has Ken Seiling with a solid lead, even Cambridge. That's good.
EDIT: Must have been a typo on the Region's page; it's now back down to a saner number. A good start, but way too early to make any sort of call.

I'm not a statistician, but the 2:1 lead across Cambridge and Waterloo, plus City of Kitchener's numbers (not posted on Regional site) make me comfortable in predicting a Seiling win. Also, Dave Jaworsky, Berry Vrbanovic, and Doug Craig have solid leads. They aren't going to lose. For Waterloo regional councillor, it looks like Sean Strickland is going to finish first, with Jane Mitchell in 2nd and Karen Scian in 3rd. I'd bet on Strickland but not on the Mitchell/Scian distribution.

I'd say that Waterloo Regional Councillor's second seat is currently a 3-way tossup between Telegdi, Scian, and Mitchell. I'm happy with the Waterloo and Kitchener results, and mildly disappointed but not surprised by Cambridge. Karen Redman leading in Kitchener's Regional Councillor race is a bit of a surprise to me because I didn't seem to see much of her campaign. She's probably a good choice though. Glad to see Tom Galloway up there as well. EDIT: I know nothing about Ward 2 in Waterloo, but that's the only one that seems to have a contest at this point. Looks like the others are all pretty decided (I think to the incumbents where they're running, but not certain about that).

While early still Vrbanovic with a big lead over Glenn-Graham and the others for Kitchener mayor race.
