A vehicle collision this morning, but only to adjacent infrastructure - a car came off the road at Block Line and Courtland and struck the Ion signal box. Thankfully no serious injuries that I could see, and the tracks were not obstructed so trains operated normally.

Railway infrastructure is being really careless lately. The Spur Line (as in, the actual rails) collided with a car Sunday night and had to be re-built just north of the William/Willow St. crossing. A crew spent much of today rebuilding about 20m of track in the area. The car had been travelling eastbound on William until it got to the bend beside 55 William E.

No can do - think of the poor drivers' safety when they careen off the road. Can't have them getting hurt with a hard stop.

They really must have been careening around that left hand turn from Courtland onto Block Line to go off teh road and hit that substation.

Courtland northbound is closed at the moment, so they may have been thrown off by the sudden need to detour. Doesn't excuse not fully completing the turn, of course.

Haha. I think it's just one of those Paladin security guys that Grand River Hospital contracts to provide off-hands security in the psychiatric intensive care unit. They have dark blue uniforms with a jacket that says PALADIN on the back and the psych unit is pretty close to this area, so they probably saw the crash and went outside to see if they could help.

Staff sent a recommendation to Council to allow for complete advertising wrap of the trains. I have already written to each Regional Councilor and chair advocating for them to not do this. I find it interesting that Mike Farwell did an article agreeing to it. No big deal in essence. Complaints that the rider has a reduced view, nonsense, there are perforations in the wrap to look through. The ignorance is outstanding. The view is obscured. Worse yet, Mike doesn't even use transit so he has no skin in the game. Just shut it Mike.

Good morning,
Thank you for your email. Yesterday, the Region’s Planning & Works Committee provided the following with respect to report TSD-TRS-23-010, Changes to GRT Advertising Policies:
“That the Regional Municipality of Waterloo refer the report back to Staff for changes discussed under TSD-TRS-23-010, Changes to GRT Advertising Policies for consideration prior to the final 2024 budget day on December 13, 2023; And that consultation on this issue be included as part of the 2024 Budget Consultations in the context of overall budget priorities; And that any Regional information campaigns not be included in the limit for bus wraps and that a funding source and process be identified; And that the Regional Municipality of Waterloo continue the Truth and Reconciliation bus wrap until February 29, 2024.”

I’ll only support such a stupid idea once they allow advertising on hospitals, libraries, police stations and fire halls. For some reason everyone deserves dignity except transit users (who are the only ones paying directly for service in the first place)

This is on point...
Honestly. Police cruisers...seems exactly analogous, and it's also the agency sucking up an unlimited amount of funding.
I miss folks in Kitchener (and London, and Toronto, and other cities)...I do not miss our government.
