Could it be that the pedestrian in question means that the road should be wider so that there is more room for bicycles? That's about the only thing that makes sense to me.

Obviously. People use what is convenient and available. If we had good bicycle infrastructure and public transit everywhere, those would get used more.

Indeed. We've built our cities so that it is hard to not drive, unless you specifically choose to do so.

As if the only reason to move around the city is to go to work, which is just so miserable.

I think it's less funny and more revealing.

While Outhit's article I can believe is intentionally misleading...the rest of them probably just reveal unconscious biases.

Our society is car brained to be sure...but we're also blind to a whole host of other things...you see it in what trips are counted...only commute trips...traditionally male, employed, missing errands, trip chaining, etc.

What kind of bike parking is available at Fairview Mall? I'm trying to see via Google Streetview, but the images are from 2020 and the entire front-end got redesigned since then, so I'm not sure what's really there. As far as I can tell, there are 3 parking posts on the Kingsway side by the food court. Is that honestly it? 

(Also, would it make sense to have a separate thread for "Is there bike parking?" if people are looking for bike parking availability at places across the region? People could post photos of infrastructure to give others an idea of the amount/quality of parking available in different areas.)

There are a few racks at the Ion station, as well, but those are not on mall property.

Even when you find a bike rack at a mall, it is usually the most useless kind, or sometimes there are a handful of post and rings. This Walmart is an exception.
