Although I didn't vote for Conservative-lite (PC's) I'm glad they won - it's the best of a horrendous group of parties

Minority governments, anyone?

I am not glad that the bike-lane-ripping-up, Greenbelt-selling PCs won.

If only provincial elections were actually just polls of the people currently waiting for hallway medicine, they might be a bit more serious.

Interesting, it seems clear that things are worse now than when the Liberals were in power. I don't like the Liberals, but healthcare is worse, housing is worse, corruption is worse, transport policy is worse.

Like, these things are pretty uncontroversial here.

Landslide? It's pretty much the same as before, the PCs ended up with 80 seats, down from 83 in the last election, while the Liberals took some seats from the NDP.

Well yea, that’s the definition of a landslide - when your party has 3x the number of votes as 2nd place

But you're right in the sense that nothing’s really changed except taxpayers have to foot the bill for an unnecessary election - it was a calculated political move by Ford to preempt the Federal election

He most likely figures if PP gets elected there will be significant fiscal restraint which definitely won’t be popular and would damage his chances of getting reelected in 2026

Anyways it’s over now, next up Carney vs Pierre

I mean, seats are all that matters at the end of day, but it's still hard to call a minority of the popular vote a landslide. Your comparative example doesn't really hold up in regards to what people want when the total "left" vote was larger than the conservative vote (although some might disagree where the current Liberals actually sit).

The Liberals can be counted upon to provide normal, incompetent government, without much really insane stuff going on. And sometimes they manage to get something really good happening.

I’ll take that over the Doug Ford show any day.
