Of course, Queen has its permanent signals operating while Benton still has them strung up on wires.

Currently you can go south on Charles from the Tannery all the way to Ottawa (can't comment on what cars driving south from Borden face, just that they can). You can drive North from Stirling to Benton or Queen.

Is that as of this morning? Usually, there are still bits on Charles that are blocked off during the day for trackwork, heading South (between Cedar and Borden, mainly). After 5pm, it is generally completely open as you describe, though.

That was definitely after 5pm last night, as you mention.

Can only go as far South as Queen at the moment, looks like that block has been closed in order to build the stop there.
Can't go north of Queen to Ontario, or Ontario to Gaukel, or Gaukel to Water, either.

Trackwork through Waterloo Park is now just about complete.

I don't know why I didn't think to pop up here before, but the Parkade in Uptown Waterloo offers great vantage point of construction along King. The ride up to the third deck is pretty easy, too!

Today they were doing very fine adjustments in the height of the catenary between Bearinger and University. I wonder if they are getting ready to start running some test vehicle.
Not yet! Still in Thunder Bay. Next stop: Millhaven! Then Waterloo, in about November. (I'll be by Millhaven at least twice in August, so will be sure to report in if it's made it there yet.)
Bummer! My knees gave out at about Seagram; I would have liked to have seen what they were up to. Can you elaborate?

They had three trucks on rails going from dropper to dropper, placing a type of laser leveling equipment and minimally adjusting the height in each location.

Could they use something other than an LRV as a test vehicle? Is there an LRT equivalent of a speeder?

Kidding!
Ugh, and yes. I cringe every time I see people doing that.
@KevinL - they'll do a pull-trough test with the actual train before moving under its own power. This verifies platform clearances and correct track/points alignment. Woo-hoo! The Record actually published my letter.. First time I've done that.
