Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014
#11
I went to Zion United Church and was told that the congregation will disband in June, 2015. The buyer of the property apparently wants to keep the sanctuary intact. While that is excellent news if accurate, one wonders what use such a space could be put to? It would make a wonderful concert venue, but the economics of that would seem doubtful.

The old Bible School (used in recent years by Rockway Mennonite Church, which has purchased Olivet United Church as its new home), was a revelation to me - the semi-circular room has pull-down wooden dividers under the gallery that can subdivide the space. In future, I could see it as a wonderful chamber music venue, a private wedding hall, etc. Very interesting space that I hope can also be saved.
