Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - goggolor - 09-14-2014 There's also the Doors Open Ontario Flickr pool, if anyone still uses Flickr... posting your photo there enters you in their official photo contest. https://www.flickr.com/groups/doo2014/ Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - jerryhung - 09-14-2014 List of all the sites & links are here http://www.doorsopenontario.on.ca/Event ... egion.aspx I only have time (and interest) to visit YKF and take a bus tour Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - Spokes - 09-15-2014 The PUC Building tops the list for me. Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - Spokes - 09-18-2014 Anyone checking this out this weekend? Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - panamaniac - 09-18-2014 Yes, I am planning to visit Zion United, the AirBoss (Dominion Tire) Factory and, possibly, the Communitech Hub. Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - trakt0r - 09-19-2014 I was too late to book the AirBoss tour, that's out for me. Planning to see the Waterloo North Hydro, the Registry Theater, I'll do a tour of the airport (never been there) and perhaps see the West Montrose Bridge. Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - Spokes - 09-19-2014 That all sounds great! I'm unable to make it, but please post pictures! Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - trakt0r - 09-23-2014 Only managed to get to airport and the Montrose bridge, LOTS to see that day on both sites. Baffles me how that bridge is suspended. An antique show 'n shine on the other side of the bridge The firetruck at the airport put a nice rainbow display Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - rangersfan - 09-24-2014 I was able to see the following : Floradale Produce (greenhouse north of Elmira) Sun Life Financial Zion United Church Communitech Desire2Learn UW School of Pharmacy It was my first time seeing all of them so it was an excellent day. Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - panamaniac - 09-24-2014 I went to Zion United Church and was told that the congregation will disband in June, 2015. The buyer of the property apparently wants to keep the sanctuary intact. While that is excellent news if accurate, one wonders what use such a space could be put to? It would make a wonderful concert venue, but the economics of that would seem doubtful. Original windows from 1893: The old Bible School (used in recent years by Rockway Mennonite Church, which has purchased Olivet United Church as its new home), was a revelation to me - the semi-circular room has pull-down wooden dividers under the gallery that can subdivide the space. In future, I could see it as a wonderful chamber music venue, a private wedding hall, etc. Very interesting space that I hope can also be saved. Re: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - Spokes - 09-24-2014 Both great spaces! So many potential uses, and hopefully both get implemented into any development plans Thanks everyone for the pictures! If anyone else has some, please share. RE: Doors Open Waterloo Region - 2014 - @WRConnected - 10-01-2014 Quote:Doors Open WatRegion @DoorsOpenWR |
