Not local, but still relevant. A truely horrific crash in Nevada today, the driver of a box truck hit and killed five cyclists and injured 4 more. The real story here is the degree to which the newspaper and the police collude to absolve the driver of the truck...

The newspaper never once refers to the driver of the box truck except to state that they are uninjured.
The police go so far as to explicitly exonerate the driver, giving them no responsibility for a crash on a highway with a 3 lane wide shoulder which killed 5 people:
""It doesn't appear to be impairment," Buratczuk said. "It appears to be a tragic accident.""
Reminds me that while I have serious issues with our reporting of traffic violence, it could be far worse.
I will follow up with noting that while WRPS and TheRecord both did a very poor job of reporting the collision yesterday in WR
