Storm Water Management - Stream Naturalization

City staff remove beaver dam at Kitchener creek due to ‘flood risk’

So, three years ago, the city spent a lot of money re-naturalizing Shoemaker Creek. I was walking along the creek trail a week or two ago and was happy to see a new beaver dam, though I didn't see any beavers. Well, now the city seems to be annoyed that the wildlife is doing their natural activities in the newly naturalized creek. Very disappointing. I think that there is enough room in that section of the creek for a beaver pond. The wall along the trailside is very high, and the houses on the other side are sufficiently high above the creek, as far as I can tell. I am sure that the city can put in a pipe that will limit the depth of any pond that the beavers build.
