I go to Toronto twice per week, with a fairly early start to the day (on top of having a young one at home who wakes up multiple times per night), I'll take the transfer in Bramalea if it means I can get a few minutes sleep before getting home.
The bus is also darker. Only annoying when the driver rides the brakes the entire trip, but that doesn't happen often.

Right, the lighting is absolutely nuclear onboard GO Train cars, especially the newer ones which have much, much brighter lighting. I've never understood why they need to blast it so bright. Subdued/indirect lighting is far, far more comfortable, and visually pleasing. The MK VI Monorails (by Bombardier!) at Walt Disney World have the best interior lighting, I think.

Today's announcement summed up is that beginning in January there will be one additional trip per day extended to Kitchener.

Ugh, I guess this is better than nothing but I was hoping for more.
Still concerning is the 2h+ trip time.

5 trips per day rather than 4 is better in some sense, but I think we’re at the point where fixing the travel time is more important than increasing the number of trips. Right now a single train could do 3 round trips in 12 hours; cutting the single-trip time to 1:30 from 2:00 would allow the same train to do 4 round trips in 12 hours for the same staffing and maintenance costs. If we’re going to have all-day service, the travel time really needs to come down, both in order to make it affordable to run and to make it attractive enough to be worth running.

5:40 AM start, huh? I'd rather have an added train at the other end of the morning schedule.

Did anyone else watch the live stream? It sounds very much like the CN freight bypass has been cancelled. They claim they will be able to offer fast two-way all-day GO service by negotiating improved track sharing with CN "without the need for a costly freight bypass".

Folks. In this case, the "people" being referred to here is CN.

I very much hope this is not the case. If it is, it's a lie, and Ford has basically killed all way 2 day go, (and electrification). Ontario is closed for business.

So will 5 trains now, not 4, sleep in Kitchener? 2 at Park, 3 at Shelley?

There is a huge gap between the last GO Train at 7:10, and the only Via train at ~9:20

And the VIA train is about an hour too early, if you need to get to Toronto for a lunch or afternoon meeting.

Can't do anything about the seat recline, but I do use a headband as eyeshades.
