Candidates don't have to file finances until end of march 2015. It will be interesting to see how Jay Aissa did all that promotion within the campaign limit. What is the limit $1 per eligible elector.? So what $350,000? What do robocalls cost these days?
Everyone move to the back of the bus and we all get home faster.

Combine that with the high profile campaign office. Lots of money. Maybe some that will go unclaimed.

There were also ads on therecord.com and 570 news.

While their different platforms, especially about the LRT, were the principal distinguishing issues in the race for region chairman, my concern is that had Aissa won his campaign would have set a dangerous precedent for more money, negative spin, robocalls, attack ads, etc. in future elections. That would not be a good thing.

Im not sure he didn't already get the ball rolling towards that precedent.

He did set a precedent with his negative, American style campaign. The fact that he failed to win though is a message that won't be lost in future campaign managers.
He seemed to have gotten a surge in money and campaign staff late into the game. I wonder who was sponsoring his efforts and for what reasons.

Follow the money! Who would benefit from a cancelled project?
Lawyers! I'm kidding of course...

If I remember correctly he refused to say who were his backers during the court case.

I guess this is the end of Jay Aissa, for ever!

Is he still planning to sell his site on Northfield? Maybe he'll move to Woodstock after all.

Aissa's loss is no great loss to the Region. If he'd won he'd so badly antagonize his colleagues in council to make Rob Ford seem like a great conciliator.
