GO Transit
Isn't this just the old Missing Link that the previous liberal government proposed?

Yep. As far as I can tell it's exactly identical to the plan Ford killed when he took office. It could be done by now, but instead we're just starting the studies over again.

At least this seems like a step in the right direction.

There are rumblings that Ford might call an early election to take advantage of the current federal situation, this could be a bit of preemptive electioneering.

Which came first, the Kitchener Go line expansion or the new HWY 7

Here's hoping that GO 3.0 in 2085 finally gets around to the fact that the rest of Ontario exists that isn't Toronto.

How much you wanna bet that the optimum route to do a diversion of freight to enhance the GO passenger rail system will turn out to be the exact same diversion that the Wynne Liberals going to do that Doug Ford cancelled as soon as he was elected?

It was wasteful when Wynne wanted to do it, but ingenuity at its finest when proposed by Dumpster Fire.

GO improvements are coming April 5: https://www.metrolinx.com/en/news/april-...line-trips

Nothing earth-shattering; four existing daily trains will now run express beyond Brampton into Union (with additional trains in that section running as local stoppers).

A new bus route, 17B, will run on weekends through August to connect to Lakeshore West services (much like its weekday-only cousin the 17). This one will skip Guelph, and connect at Burlington GO. It's marketed as a through connection to Niagara Falls, but I can see it being used for other purposes quite easily.

Solid gradual improvements indeed.

These service improvements are great, especially the route to Aldershot.

Express service from Bramalea suits me, saving ten minutes is good. But I think it would be nice if the express train could stop at either Weston or Bloor for connections to UP Express.

This is extremely on point. Not enabling this connection is a big missed opportunity. But on brand for a "commute to downtown Toronto" centric transit agency.

Hopefully when Mount Dennis opens they will make that a stop; you get both Line 5 and the UP.

You're right, this would be even better.

It looks like the new  weekend 17B will have four departures from Waterloo Region in the morning (earliest 8:19am from UW), and four returns in the evening (latest 10:09pm from Burlington Go). One hour and 12 minutes from Kitchener GO to Burlington GO. If one catches the connecting bus from Burlington to Niagara Falls, it's a 90-minute ride from Kitchener to there.
