Ottawa LRT

The initial plan was an extension/conversion of the current Trillium Line. Barrhaven would have been connected to the system from the south end of the line.

I thought they were doing an expansion of the Trillium Line, and that's why they're selling off their original 3 trains?

...time elapses...

Okay, so if I've got this right... it sounds like the initial plan is the one that Markster mentioned - converting the Diesel powered single-tracked line to electrified LRT (with two tracks of course), and extending it down and then to the West.  But then that was cancelled.

Then there's a new plan, just to expand the current Diesel system, like so:

Is that right?

Edit - Ahh... this explains all!.

Who wants to put together a proposal to buy them, and create a Kitchener-Breslau-Guelph shuttle?

Love airport connectors!

Don't get you hopes up on the airport unless there's a big cash injection to lay the track. More likely would be Breslau GO when it's built with a bus from there.

Which is really way more than adequate.

I was really hoping that now they've got at least one train together and out on their short "test track", there would be lots of photos and videos... but I can't find anything. Sad

I'm guessing it's no fun standing around outside in Ottawa winter weather trying to guess if it might come along or not to capture a shot. Smile

Even an express bus from LRT to the airport would work well, at least until YYZ has substantially more flights than it has today.

Stage 2 LRT for Ottawa just got bigger

The proposed extension to Trim Rd in the east was officially added to the plan.
The extension to the Airport is also officially on the books, but they're still hoping for upper-tier funding to cover it and the Trim Rd extension.
And in some very surprising news to me, they even added an extension to Moodie Dr in the west!

But considering the brand new tenant on Moodie Dr... I'm not surprised.

There's a Scribd document with a lot of sexy pictures:

Why, DNDn't you hear about the massive government department taking over the Nortel Campus?
