Without having seen any details, the concept looks good. The neighbouring residents might be less happy about the new tall neighbour though.

It's Sunlife on two sides, retail across the street on John (maybe they would be considered about shading, but I can't see why, and less so than homeowners might anyway), retail and Cortes across the street on King. Not the same situation with the Cortes and the single-family homes just across Dodd's Lane.
I think it's a pretty good site for some height from the perspective of likely opposition. I also think John and King is a logical intersection for a few taller buildings.

How new is that, though? It doesn't even look like it includes Ion, which means it could have just been a concept from 5 years ago rather than an up and coming project

There is a distinct lot about an acre and a quarter on that corner of King and John, and a separate home behind it on John. Whether Sunlife has purchased it at some point, I don't know. I think they owned them, or I thought so at one point. In any event, they don't own them for sure now, as they sold that whole property to Concert Real Estate a year ago or so. http://www.concertproperties.com/

That Twitter feed has some interesting flashes of information like this in progress render:

That render at King and John, reminds me of City Centre.

Is it just me or does it look like those stairs are fronting King St? Or am I looking at it wrong.
Poor street interaction?

No, you're right. Kind of weird- is there a grade on King there? I can't remember.
That would be poor street interaction. This render may not be very reflective of an eventual proposal, though.

I dont remember there being any grade issues there. Not that I can think of at least.

Heh. Was just talking with a girl the other day about the hellish apartment her and her roommates were living in last year. Couldn't reach the landlord after a few months, so they lived rent-free. Squatters in the unlocked basement. Mould everywhere. Just generally a terrible place to be. I'm just now making the connection that it's this building from Terry Good.

Did a google map view to see where exactly this place was, and in the street view there's a cop parked out front. Seems about right.
