Baby blue spandrel panels were a bold choice.

This building looks incredibly ugly so far in a prime location. Let's hope it turns out ok

Name one of these buildings in Waterloo that look good.

That was a trick question. :')

What a sad statement that is tho.

I mean K2 looks passable from one side, unfortunately it's not the side facing uptown.

I like tower 2 of K2. https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.4713602,-...6656?hl=en

Overall that development was a huge disappointment though.

This one might take the prize as ugliest development in Waterloo though, which unfortunately is saying something. The podium is the same a DTK but worse somehow.

Tower 2 is on the right? The left-hand one does have the classic mid-century Soviet look to it. Smile

The buildings around the university area all come down to: you get what you pay for. You get what you pay for in architecture design, in aesthetic design, in material choices, in interior design, in structural/engineering qualities etc.

They were meant to hold students, so the bare minimum went into them. Give it 40 years and this entire place is likely going to look terrible. Perhaps there will be some way to improve things as time goes on.

I wish it would take 40 years for this area to look terrible

What do you guys think of One28 in general? Does the build look cheap? You think it will look good on King Street compared to the other condos in the area?

The podium looks pretty terrible. I'm hopeful the tower will look better than K2, and maybe it will have some decent street-level businesses.

Too bad. Glass always seems to make everything fancy, maybe they pull it off. And put in a nice cafe or something. But I guess what can you expect when you have a building walking distance from a University

Horrible design, bulky, cheep looking cladding. Looks like they spent about half a day designing the parking garage. There is no way this looks better than k2.

I'm just hoping glass will play a nice role to make the condo look nice at least. Once you throw in some retail there, and make it all glass, there's hope the street will look nice. These guys are new developers, I'm assuming they would want to build up their reputation somehow

It's hard to say anything positive about anything made in Waterloo...

Let's hope glass plays a big role on how it will look like in the end
