It was probably following Shoemaker Creek which is right there.

Possibly, but it was much, much closer to Courtland than to the creek.

That’s such a shame.  Most of what’s damaged would be the product of volunteer activity and donations from the community.

Apparently not actually true, just a repeat of old reporting:

https://www.therecord.com/news/waterloo-...ekend.html

I note to my displeasure that rather than marking the original article as “withdrawn” or “corrected” or some such, they have deleted it, without even leaving an acknowledgement that there was an article there before. Nineteen Eighty-Four lives… although admittedly without the totalitarian aspects, just sloppiness with respect to historical preservation.

Lol, no wonder they don't have readers these days. How does one rewrite a story that is actually worded it in a way that suggested this happened a second time without fact checking anything? Morons.

If it bleeds, it leads. Slow news day, might as well as present the past as the present. Though just another reason why it’s (the record) not worth the cost of a sub.

The creek crosses Courtland and goes under the Schneiders property before emerging on the other side of the tracks.
