Nothing stands in the way of business. New homes for people? Sure, reduce or cancel projects but but business and industry. I don't really see a problem with this warehouse imo

I find it really weird that nobody launched a campaign with signs when that patch of forest was demolished to build the generic houses that these people currently protest from. How are they different than a warehouse (next to the 401!!)? These people are perfectly fine ordering from Amazon but can’t stand those workers and trucks being nearby.

“The purpose of the study is to develop a building height strategy that will then be applied to an update of the existing zoning by-law and official plan, thereby bringing them into conformity with provincial policy, while also mitigating any potential impacts additional height may impose upon the downtown core’s character.“

This is going to be a very frustrating process, I assume. Funny how only maximum heights are discussed and not minimums (looking at you, surface parking lots).

This is on point...nobody ever discusses at a policy level the impacts of low rise or surface parking.

London ON AFAIK has some rules around this, but they are routinely ignored in favour of permitting developers to further crater the city.

Historic textile factory in Hespeler is proposed to be turned into condos


The developer reduced the scale of the project since a May 25 public meeting. Originally 270 units and fewer parking spaces were proposed.

Also on Tuesday, council will also decide on a proposed development on 61-65 Nottinghill Dr. in the southeast area of the city.

These articles ALWAYS list the total parking spaces in the project and it seems so specific and irrelevant to anyone but the tenants.

Why don't they list the total bathrooms with these units? Maybe tell us how many BTUs the air conditioners are going to put out?

Because people have been brain damaged by cars (possibly literally given the historic use of leaded gasoline) and the general public is often confused about the difference between people and cars...they seem to think of their neighbours as cars...they don't live beside John and Jenna they live next to Ford F-150 and Kia Rondo.

Not in my backyard! Unless it's more parking spaces, roads and highways. When the cost of living gets so high and we run out of homes, at least people can still live in their cars. Checkmate, cyclists.

Grand River Hotel in Preston is on its way to reconstruction

Seems like a Christian charity just finished the deal to buy this old mess of a building and use the official affordable housing fund to support it. Anyone have any stories of how well their other projects in the area have worked out?

A very interesting listing appeared on MLS recently in downtown Galt. There is a concept from Martin Simmons and the logo from Greentown Developments, who has some smaller projects in town.

There is no application yet for this lot, only the MLS listing below. Its currently an abandoned and very run-down Tim Hortons and is a perfect urban location.
