In a throwback to the 1970s, Cooper Bay Homes and Edge Architects are proposing a brown rectangular wall like 13 floor residential project at 6-14 Dietz Avenue (next to the major Westmount development) which currently houses a number of low density SFH units. 135 residential units with a mixture of one, two and three bedroom units for a total of 227 are proposed. 5 of the units will be 2 story townhouse units built into the podium. 106 parking spaces are proposed with the development.

Not nearly as good as 170 Erb. It looks like a public housing tower, but duller.

The trilateral symmetry at 170 is cool.

I think this looks OK. The solid wall massing is fine IMO, the colours are arranged in a comprehensible pattern, and a few town houses in the base will be fine for peds walking by.

To be fair, the 1970s was 50 years ago, and when architectural heritage advocacy first emerged in the 1970s, people were fighting to protect buildings that were built in the 1920s...
