I don't know if this is baked into the forum software or if it's something that can be configured, but the search has a limit of four characters, I think. I understand the thinking behind it as a way to not overload the server with pointless searches, but I wonder if traffic is low enough here that the restriction is not warranted. It's really annoying in certain cases (I was trying to find a thread about the Kitchener MEC, for example) where there is a keyword that is lower than four characters but also distinctive. I've run into this problem on other forums when searching for KW, for instance. It's not a huge deal. In my case, I'm assuming that any thread about MEC would likely also include "mountain equipment", but I just wonder if the restriction is actually accomplishing anything.

That explains that when I am searching for a particular post I get a long list of threads which doesn't narrow down anywhere close to what I am looking for.

I haven't seen an option for this but I also haven't looked specifically for it. So I'll do some looking

There is a workaround, though: search Google for
mec site:waterlooregionconnected.com
