Windows reach the top floor now. I am quite happy with the way this is turning out.

Charlie West info session for purchasers happened tonight. PDIs start next week, and the lower floors have final occupancy dates in mid August. Middle of the tower is October occupancy, and top of the tower is late November, but the latter two might slip a little.

Friend dropped a message to the Momentum instagram the other day regarding the parking facade: seems to confirm nothing else going on there as a finishing touch - likely done as-is.

A well-intentioned major fail?

INSANE that we allowed a massive, essentially blank wall to be built anywhere in the city let alone next to possibly the largest blank wall in town, an LRT station and prime future development lands. Absolute failure.

While I agree the parking podium is pretty ugly, I'll point out the wall isn't blank at street level. There's retail units along Charles St under the parking, so for pedestrian experience it's still an interactive building.

DTK Condos' podium is not blank. Do you prefer that, then? Why all the hate?

And this wall isn't blank. It has aluminum panels with a seemingly random pattern of holes. It looks easily better than most other podiums in buildings built to date, at least to me. What it is, though, is a letdown from what we expected it to be.

The Charlie West podium seems to me that it was a neat idea that just didn't work well in reality. This isn't a developer abandoning the vision of the architect in favour of a blank aluminum wall like we've seen in other instances.

Ya my guess is once it was shown to the city (if it was shown to the city) it was explained how it would look when lit up, but it just hasn't translated.

And plus, the original was just so much cooler.

Agreed, I'll take a good idea that didn't quite reach its potential like this every time over the slab podiums elsewhere in town. A bit disappointed they couldn't realize the original but I really don't think it looks that bad.

As others have stated, its also a good building at street level which is important too.

Apparently all 4 retail units are sold. Have it on good authority the corner unit at Charles/Gaukel will be a restaurant/bar, and there will also be a takeout restaurant in one of the other units.
