Waterloo Region reported 92 new cases today (10.0% of the active cases) plus six more for yesterday; 841 new cases for the week (-44), averaging 11.6% of active cases! 868 active cases, -203 in the last seven days.
Ontario reported 1,913 new cases today -- but with some data missing from Toronto, so I expect a revised number between 2,000 and 2,500 -- with a seven-day average of 2,893 (-142). 2,873 recoveries and 46 deaths translated to a drop of 1,006 active cases and a new total of 27,615. -2,526 active cases for the week and 426 deaths (61 per day). 34,531 tests for a positivity rate of 5.54%, the lowest Sunday rate since Christmas. The positivity rate is averaging 5.17% for the past seven days compared to 6.08% for the preceding seven.
400 patients in ICU (+6) and a total hospital population of 1626 (-75 for the week). These two figures do lag the new cases data, so any significant improvement is probably still at least a week away, even if the new case data continues on its current trajectory.

So the "Stay At Home" order takes us until Feb 10, but the last I'm aware of, the schools are supposed to return to in-person learning on Jan 25th? Has that changed?

The active cases have now been dropping for 10 days, the positivity rate is back below 5%, and the new cases have fallen from 3,500+ per day to the 2,500 range. I'm cautiously optimistic that we may have turned the corner here. If we can continue this trend ...

They can issue a summons, in which case they are not limited to the set fines. That's really intended for flagrant and repeat offenders, which these people clearly are.

They're already facing up to 11 million dollars in charges thus far, so I don't think too many things are going to scare them apart from actual arrests or something (if the police can even do that in this case).
