Search page logs me out

For some reason, when I click on What's New? or Search at the bottom of the page I am put on the Search page but not logged in even though I
was logged in originally.

I have been noticing similar behaviour in Chrome. If I'm logged in and click "What's New", it loads fine, but if I use the bookmark I have to the exact same URL (I checked), it logs me out.

Just for the record, clicking on What's New at the top of the page acts normally.

I've also been having the same probably where it  signs me out when I click on the what's new section on the home screen but as Acitta mentioned the what's new in the menu appears to work fine.

Are all of you using Chrome? Does it do the same with other browsers?

(For the record, I have not seen this, and I'm using (the new, Chromium-based) Edge.)

 I'm using Chrome on mobile and it's causing the problem so I'll see if it does the same thing on desktop Chrome.

I just checked Chrome and Opera. Same behaviour. (on Linux).

OK, I replicated this. That's the bad news, kind of.

The good news? You are not actually getting logged out. The search page thinks that you are logged out, but if you proceed to do the search. you will see that you are still logged in.

Will need to investigate why the search page is confused ...

It's the same behaviour on Chrome for Windows and Chromebooks.

Ha! I think I have it fixed now. Those two links were http, not https, so the login info didn't carry over. Should be good to go now.

That appears to have fixed that problem related to the "search" and "whats new" links at the bottom of the page but when you go to the homescreen and click on the "whats new" banner it still logs you out.

It's the one in the home screen where it's the big banner above the articles and ion/cycling threads 
https://www.waterlooregionconnected.com/portal.php and at least for me it appears to still be behaving the way the others were. It also appears that everything on that screen is broken and logging you out such as clicking on the cycling thread/ion thread and the articles but it could just be doing that for me.
