Has there been any discussion about the City of Waterloo's proposal to declare some extra land next to RIM Park surplus and open to development? They are formally known as the Kraus Lands. From the City's decription:

The lands are approximately 13.29 hectares (33 acres) in size. It is bounded by University Avenue East to the west, the Walter Bean Trail to the north, the Grand River is located to the east and a private property to the south.

It would be nice to have some mix of different type of buildings here and not all SFH.
