I wonder if there really is enough demand for some virtual reality thing to make sustainable business of it.

Wow. Awful. Speachless

The Huether was a regular part of my life for a very long time - my family would go pretty much weekly for wings and many variations of friends of my parents and their families would come and go. When I came of drinking age, it was one of my favourite places especially in the summer. I've not been a regular there for a very long time (the Adlys family's very public views on homosexuality moved me to be strongly disinclined), so me saying I'm never going to go back isn't going to affect them in any meaningful way, but this is it for me. The Adlys family is notoriously odious already and this is the last straw for me. There are so many better wings options, and plenty of patios that are just as enjoyable.

Quite disappointing. I, too, have seen many excellent movies at the Princess.

But, like the Walper barbershop, this also appears to have been a month-to-month rental, with all the risks that come along with avoiding the commitment of a long-term lease. An unfortunate outcome but it should not have been a total surprise that this would (eventually) happen.

To be clear, the Princess Twin will still be operating, so it's not a complete loss.

Yes, and they will screen some of the movies that they would at the Original at the Twin now.

Anybody else old enough to remember when the Princess Theatre first opened - as a porn theatre?

The plot thickens. https://www.therecord.com/news-story/929...-waterloo/

Quote:While Adlys said Wednesday the notice still stands, he said they haven't yet signed a lease with a new tenant.

"You can always negotiate while you give notice," he said. "We've got a couple of tenants that want the space. They haven't signed anything yet. There's nothing in stone."

This came as news to the Tutts on Wednesday, who said they'd been told a lease agreement with a new tenant had been signed. They've already notified customers of the looming closure that would see their 34-year run at the Original Princess come to an end in mere weeks.

My ideal result would see them moving to a location in DTK, although nothing jumps into mind as the perfect, and available, spot.

How about the former bible thrift shop (and long-ago Consumers Distributing location) on Scott St?

That would take a good deal of work to convert the building, and I wouldn't call the location ideal.

Wasn't there a strip club at some point as well?

Just to be clear, did the Princess open as a porn theatre, or did it move into space previously occupied by a porn theatre?

Any building in DTK (or UTW) would take a good deal of work: there are no more movie theatres. And it's what they already did with Princess 2.

The location is only a block away from King St, and only three blocks from King & Queen. That's roughly as central as the Princess's current location.

Probably too large a space (how many seats does the old Princess space have?).  The semi-basement space of the never-finished reconstruction at the east end of the American Hotel block might be interesting.
