Q50 (I think that's what it's been rebranded as) the office tower at Queen and Weber has some steel structuring going up around the exterior of the ground floor.
Anyone have details?

IIRC it's literally just that; Steel beams for a design element on the patio.

I don't know that this was posted, but would be an interesting addition.

Found this concept for 152 Shanley St, it's not an actual proposal but what could potentially be there.

Wow. That would be truly fantastic!
Does the zoning allow for it? I wonder if they're trying to show what could be done with it to drum up some interest. Here are the images:

It looks really good, but I wouldn't really begrudge opposition in this case. The existing building is rather incongruous, and as nice as the concept is, it is out of character with the neighbourhood and not exactly a prime location for intensification. On the other hand, I love these old industrial buildings and would much rather see it repurposed than demolished. Does anyone know the history of that spot? I'm guessing this building was on the out-skirts of Kitchener when it was built and the neighbourhood came later.

Possibly, although if so the houses likely came very shortly thereafter, as it was normal at that time for houses to be close to sources of employment. |
