Fair enough, I just hate how one business can hold back an entire region for so long.

Lights were on this evening at the former Caesaria on King W after looking very dark and quiet in recent months. I think the new pub got its liquour licence quite some time ago, so I'm not sure what the hold up is.

I noticed that the Fox and Fiddle space at Bridgeport and King will soon be host to "The Pub", serving British Pub fare. I also noticed that there was a "Pay for your parking here" post out back, so I assume that they will now have paid parking.

Which is the same restaurant as Angel's diner. I think that means Angel's diner in the Food Basics plaza at Highland and Lawrence. will be moving?

A couple closures that have happened in the past couple of weeks. O'Yummy's Sushi at Ira Neeeles/Erb was evicted for not paying rent. As well, Gastropub No. 29 has closed.

Any follow-up on TMKM94's comment about the potential McCabe's in Uptown? The application for the liquor license has been torn down on the inside, and there seems to be zero progress on renovating the building.

Too bad about Gastropub 29. They had their issues, but it was good to have a decent food/craft beer option in that part of town. It really highlighted the fact that there are really no options near the Aud.

I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the Retail thread, but I popped into Legacy Greens on King E at Queen today and was pleased to see that the amount of produce and other items on offer has grown quite a bit. They serve coffee now, hot soups are available on Wednesdays and there are some in-house items as well (the chipotle humus is very good!).

Shakespeare Pies location has opened in Waterloo now, On Park street between Union and John. Had a rhubarb custard pie and a chicken pot pie the other day, both delicious.

Another find (new to me) at the back of the Global Studios building on Whitney Place at Cedar St. - Kate's Kookies ( http://kateskookies.com/ ). She offers handmade, gourmet butterscotch toffee and chocolate-filled shortbread cookies. Lots of different sizes of gift packages. I forgot to ask Kate for her hours, but I think she said she's their most days and the website has a contact phone number. I thought it looked like an interesting option for Christmas gifts or perhaps a hostess gift instead of the usual wine or flowers.

I went to Proof last night for dinner. We didn't have a reservation so we ate in the lounge as the place was full. It was a very nice atmosphere. The food was good and the prices were reasonable for what they served.
The parking lot is awkward. I am not sure if it will improve after the rest of the Barrel Yards project is completed or not.

A sign went up today on the door of the former Entertaining Elements/Bistro Nash (179 King St W) for a new place that will be called "Rhapsody" - a whisky/wine café - sort of a cross of DVLB and B, perhaps? The woman putting up the sign told me that they hope to open in March. That is a large space with lots of potential - could be another nice addition to the growing Downtown scene.
