The attention this project gets is almost entirely due to the slow pace of construction.

It is one of the only actually nice looking new building in our our Region. Families will be happy to rent there as well. There are plenty of nice recent midrise buildings. Market Flats, the apartment building next to BT Supermarket, Civic 66, The Scott, Barra, OTIS, Midtown Lofts ... and that's just in DTK.

How many floors to go on the second tower now? Any pics?

I'll try to upload some pics here. There has been a concurrent heavy amount of work being done on the podium areas (including that yucky multicoloured glass panel arrangement at the Madison-Charles and King-Cameron corners). At the pace of the last few months, completion by late summer/early autumn seems plausible.

I would expect to see occupancy in the first tower in the spring/summer as well. It looks like now working on floor 21, so two more to go after this one. I'm expecting we'll see the top residential floor in April, and the HVAC equipment enclosures in May.

I know a lot of you will disagree, but I dont care lol. My 13 year old daughter and I went to Yeti Cafe on Thursday for breakfast. As we walked around this area from street level, I asked her what she thought. She said she really like the feel and how new everything is. She said she liked the colored panels on this building . I stopped and looked up the street and down the street from the sidewalk, I agree with her. All the new infill looks great and this building looks good at street level. I am going to wait another 3 years until it is completed to make my final decision on this one. In the mean time there will be many more infill completed along this old section of King and I think it will be a great community to live in.

hahaha certainly an interesting take on one of the ugliest things I have seen constructed, but everything is subjective. I have coworker that likes the look of DTK.

Wlak buy it at street level, totally different perspective. Like I said, I am waiting 3 years for.it to be done

I kind of agree with you both, I think the project is unattractive from a distance but fine at street level as a pedestrian. I think that when the commercial space is full it will be an overall positive addition to the area.

You are all so weirdly overdramatic about this project. I live in King East and I can see both buildings from my front window. It's fine. It might not win any design awards, but it's also not the hideous blight on my vision that so many of you seem to think it is. Not that long ago I was saying how much I like this part of King St now. There's more to the area than just The Market. And once this project is finished I'm looking forward to the new commercial units and what they bring.

It does certainly seem like a contest for who can hate it more.

I'd just like to see it finished and full of residents. It will hardly be the first unattractive development in K-W.

Currently working on floor 23 in the second tower. They might need an HVAC structure on top of that but they should be topped out within a month or so.
