Manulife handles that in DTK. It just means the height needs to be enough to accommodate those trucks.

While there are many wheelchair spaces on that laneway, is by no means all, and by my count is in fact, less than half.

Honestly, I'd like to eliminate traffic on Ring Rd. for safety...but that's a whole other story.

The only way they could build it over the laneway is if the building's connected and the loading dock was moved. Feasible I think, but more ambitious and restrictive to be sure.

Construction is supposed to begin at the end of this year:

In an echo of Environment 3, this building will be built on top of and reuse the food court wing of DC. At 142,000 gross square feet and 5 storeys, it's not a small building.

Definitely a better design than first discussed; the existing quad is kept in full, and is just enclosed more at the northeast. Very nice.

The university has quietly been working on this behind the scenes but mobilization is now starting. The project manager appears to be Gillam, they have it up on their website. The building permit is valued at around 90 million dollars.

The university is expecting completion of this by December 2026 allowing M4 to be used for the Winter 2027 term.

Over the last few weeks very preliminary works started, fencing went up through the DC Quad a couple of weeks ago, the paths are still open as of today but once mobilization is complete the DC Quad will be the staging area so the paths in the Quad should be closing soon. Early this week the trees that are around the wing of DC where M4 is going to go came down making the space feel extremely empty. They have also been excavating a few holes around DC over the last two days in what looks like some kind of investigative work as to actual depths of pipes/fiber optics.

Today they brought in the site trailer which is parked by the DC exit closest to Ring Road by William Tutte Way. That entrance will be closed once construction starts, the bike racks by that DC entrance have signs saying these racks will be removed as of October 28th. There is nothing mentioned in the parking areas yet but along Ring Road where the bus laybys are in front of DC they have marked new parking spots and made curb cuts for accessible spaces.

Since they mobilized they have installed various new pieces of underground infrastructure, they have installed new storm sewer throughout the site, they have watermain sitting on site as well as more manholes, from the looks of the manholes left it's for more storm infrastructure since most of them say CBMH (Catch Basin Manhole).

They have also started the demolition of the MC/DC bridge and MC/DC to M3 bridge connection. Cladding was taken off slowly over the last week next to DC as well as the underside of the M3 bridge.

Lol I didn't even notice that. Might seem unsafe, but those things don't weigh much. Totally safe to have up there unless someone manages to drive it off by accident.
