Hopefully the city does grant an earlier start, but since this is Kitchener/Region of Waterloo, I won't be surprised if they fuck it up. We've got one of the worst housing problems on the planet in this shithole country and we seem to do everything we can to make it worse for ourselves.

I’m actually 100% sure there are children living at station park in units that face the construction site.

By reading the articles, they’ve stated that they are not working longer; just earlier so that workers can get home earlier. This decision to move construction start times earlier will have no impact on housing problems.
At the council discussion, the applicant said they would expect to finish this tower 2 months earlier than scheduled, if allowed the earlier start time so, it seems they must be working longer hours some how.

It simply allows for more over time. Sure unions have set hours 6-2, 7-3 whatever it may be but theres still overtime. You start earlier in the day the more overtime hours you can get. Then you speed up the construction time lines.

The view from the wrong side of the tracks ...

Wish they were doing something creative with that big back wall of the podium. Seems like it will be quite visible ~forever from the other side of the tracks given the prospects for new builds along the S side.

I'm sure some local artists will add some creativity to the blank wall

Given that it's facing a train route, I'd except to see giant adverts on the walls.

Hell yeah. Glad our council continues to jump at every opportunity to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Will have to wait to see once more of the cladding goes up, but so far I like the clean, even look of the first two towers over the next two. Feels a bit busy so far.

I kinda like the geometric shapes on some balconies and staggered columns. Helps break up the monotony

I agree... BTW, is the U of W building outside finish going to stay like that ? It is very uninspiring especially when you see the colour of the Google garage in the background. Very bland.

One of UW's main priorities is making sure that their Architecture School has NOTHING to do with any campus buildings... Why make something beautiful for students when you can just make something boring instead?

Since it will eventually be hidden behind other buildings, I can't say it bothers me much.

The first Diamond Schmidt design was beautiful, but alas U of W decided not to spend the extra 5-10% to build something striking. Instead they have barely made it nicer then the original warehouse.
