General Retail News
Oof, there are 3 separate drive-thrus planned for that plaza

Would the City need to tighten its urban design guidelines (eg no drive throughs) in order to avoid getting dumped in front of the OLT by default for refusing to accept this plan?

I'm looking forward to Longo's coming to Kitchener I heard lots of good things about that store. Also seeing Burger King make a comeback is exciting for me too.

Burger King always got way more hate than it deserved. They weren't that bad.

That's good news. I love their pizza. Any info on location?

The site plan for the Wallaceton shopping centre has it as the Grocery Tenant. (Fisher Hallman/Huron) It has yet to be officially confirmed by Longos. The building permit for the foundation is in progress.

Couple more business failed downtown again. Goodvibes juice and the cafe that was in 1 Victoria are both empty and up for lease. Not surprised TBH.

Those have been closed for a while. In the meantime, a bunch of new places have opened up downtown, which is not a surprise TBH.

I don't think Goodvibes has failed have they? They seem to have just closed their storefront, but still sell online and are stocked at other retailers. Although they could go out of business for all I care, since they stopped selling kombucha and went all in on "natural health shots" or whatever nonsense.

Yeah they sell online. I just meant the place is up for lease now. Downtown can be a bit of a revolving door when it comes to businesses, depending on what they are.

Noticed that the Ultramar at Weber and Union looks to be currently closed. The driveways are blocked off and the On the Go retail store is mostly empty except for a shelf or two.

I'm almost certain it's being turned into a Pioneer, especially now that you mentioned a On the run being there. When Ultramart was open It was called Express Mart. I know the same company that owns Ultramar also owns Pioneer and they bought Husky and turned the Kitchener Husky locations into Pioneer with On the run.

After 40 years, Adventure Guide is closing due to retirement on December 23, 2023.

Quote:STORE CLOSING PERMANENTLY DECEMBER 23rd AT 5:00 pm.

For almost 40 years, you’ve made Adventure Guide the source for technical clothing, footwear, outdoor accessories and expertise.

Thank you.

Unfortunately Adventure Guide will be permanently closing its doors effective December 23, 2023.

The good news?
We will be having a retirement sale from November 1st until December 23rd at 5:00 pm, where we will be offering large discounts on all items storewide.

It’s been our pleasure to help you “Discover Your Outdoors”.

Shop now for best selection. While supplies last. All sales final.

Weird that they would not sell the business.

Some people feel close ownership of a brand and don't trust others to maintain its legacy.
