Unseen by officials from the ground, but very visible to the tenants next door, is the fact that 'social distancing' never happened at this site. Some jobs, like spreading concrete, require a large team if they are working on a large job.

Someone on WRC said it did but my knowledge of cranes is minimal.
Yes, I remember reading that. I did some research and found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9Ks4Uk3OXQ This must be an internal rising crane, the Charlie West had the hydraulic piece on the outside.

Talking about tower cranes, a operator is having an emergency on the crane right now, according to my scanner.

On my way home last night just before 6pm, emergency crews had Frederick street blocked off from Duke to Weber. There were at least a dozen fire trucks and ambulances on site right at the DTK construction entrance. I too hope everyone is ok.

With the crane raise I can now see the crane above 22 Frederick, which got me thinking about how tall this building will be. For comparison to The Regency (the grey building right beside it), DTK will be a little over 2.3x as tall. It's definitely going to tower over the rest of the skyline, which looks from this perspective to all be pretty similar in height.

I like that shot of DTK. Interesting perspective and far enough from 22 Frederick that it doesn't look gross.

They are outside, at least, so the risk of infecting each other if one was positive isn't all that high. There has been no evidence of any community transmission after the Trinity Bellwoods mess, so I suspect the risk of transmitting anything between a few construction workers while outside (and working very high up where there is a lot of wind) is pretty low. Of course, it's still possible and they should try to keep a distance, but yeah...it's not as easy to transmit outdoors as we initially believed.

Half of the third floor of the tower is ready for some concrete. Yesterday they re-installed the concrete spreader. It is now much closer to Frederick Street (blends in with the corner of the garage at Market Square). Since the top piece of the spreader is still beside Mary's Place they may not use it until the next floor.

This project seems to be moving so much faster than Charlie West, really excited to start seeing it rise though!

Is it really much faster? Charlie West is up to 16 or 17 floors already, I think.

Charlie West was stalled for a couple months as they didn't (couldn't?) raise the crane, and stopped adding new floors. That's resumed now, and floors are being added almost weekly again.

Nice view, hello, neighbour-across-the-road. ;-)
