Is this the case or is it just the upgraded acute care centre that would reduce the amount of Ornge flights that are hauling out from KW? The proposal in the consortium site still indicates that mid-town (GRH) would be ambulatory and urgent care. Not to say that the acute care wouldn't also benefit from being central, sort of definitionally, but I think that is getting mixed up with there being no ER/urgent care in town at all.

Amalgamation of Grand River and St. Mary’s won’t happen until the abortion issue is solved. IIRC St. Mary’s is unwilling to be part of, or associated with, a hospital that offers that option. But I heard that a long time ago and much has changed since...
Not just abortion, almost anything to do with family planning. My long time GP had privileges at St. Mary's but had to send patients to Grand River for a vasectomy or tubal ligation. And now there's the issue of MAID.
I think it's past time to separate churches and hospitals or hospice. Religion should not play a factor in health care.

Well, the announcement is in Waterloo, so there is that. Travel times in emergency will increase likely... But the Waterloo people will be happy.

UW lands would be way to far away for the majority of the population. Remember, this will be the only emergency hospital.

yeah I drove by on my way to a jobsite, they had the street close down. I would be surprised if it is not in David Johnson Park. Hopefully they build the building on the east side of Hagey Blvd closer to the LRT, but I bet they build on the West side since it is a bit larger strip of land.

If it were up to me — build an emergency-vehicle-only lane beside the LRT, connecting directly to the highway. Not quite as good as the Aud location, but not really worse than the current site.
