I do read with interest and learn from you all which I do appreciate. All I like to say is that I'm a lifelong resident of KW (born in Kitchener, currently living in Waterloo) and I'm absolutely ecstatic that we finally have a couple of taller buildings in the downtown core. I don't care how the building looks (and maybe much of you are quite right, that it will really look like crap as the building ages) but for now, when I'm driving home from work going down highway 8 towards the expressway, and I see those tall buildings, especially DTK, it looks great! It has a big city feel, finally. Another great vantage point is going north on Fischer Hallman approaching Victoria Street intersection and looking right toward downtown, Charlie 1 and DTK look fabulous and so prominent. Just my 2 cents.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. While I do somewhat care about how a building looks, I don't dwell on it. Height is something to be proud of on its own. I smile every time I drive on the 7/8 westbound and look to my right and see the view of the growing skyline. The cranes make me happy.
