I have known plenty of immigrants over the years who flocked together with birds of different feathers. My own grandparents are from 3 different ethnicities. When I moved from home, I shared an apartment with a couple of Chinese guys from Malaysia. I have been stir-frying and eating with chopsticks ever since (not to mention adopting the cuisine of other immigrants into my diet.) I was friends with a woman born in Jamaica for thirty years. I am sure that many other people in the country have flexible relationships with immigrant cultures.

For me it really started in the workplace, but more recently having kids in a very multicultural school has really broadened our connections! Kids are kids and don't discern anything about others.

Our software development team of 30 has members born in 13 different countries, almost all of them either Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Potluck lunches at work are great!
