Waterloo Region set to host 2026 Ontario Summer Games


Quote:Waterloo Region has been chosen to host the 2026 edition of one of the largest sporting events in the province — the Ontario Summer Games.

The Ministry of Sport has announced that in addition to selecting the region, it is investing $1.6 million to help Explore Waterloo Region stage the games.


An estimated 4,000 participants — including athletes from ages 12 to 18, coaches, managers and officials — will support up to 24 sports at the games.

The estimated local economic impact of the event is around $6 million, coming from the players, teams and spectators.

The Ontario Games are held every two years and remain the province’s largest multi-sport event for youth.
