Ottawa LRT
To put that in perspective, Toronto is looking at paying nearly that much for an extended subway tunnel to Scarborough, and one new station.

So what does the $4.7B cover? Construction only? Additional rolling stock? Operations? Something else?

God I hope not.

But yeah, it's a big bill, but it's a huge project, seems like good value, although some of the stations are extremely suburban, looks like they could generate more sprawl, unless the zoning is done right.

The whole shebang - new track and stations, additional trains, all other associated one-time work, plus 'maintenance' (though I can't seem to find a timeframe on that part of the contract).

For reference, I think phase one was 2.1 billion

Including the tunnel through downtown.

Thanks. The timeframe makes a huge difference, though (and also what is included in "maintenance").

Lots of awesome footage in this video! The trains are really flying.

All that night footage shows off that these have a third headlight at the top of the frame. Just a design quirk, or due to the number of tunnels and bridges in the system?

I think it's just a design quirk. Smile Someone thought it looked cool. Lots of LRV designs have funky headlights.

Still no service launch date in Ottawa, either.

Quote:Manconi said it looks like a handover by the end of June is possible, based on some good progress lately. RTG has suggested it can deliver the LRT system in the second quarter of the year.

The city will need some weeks after the handover before service can start.

Amazingly, this is a fan-made video. Very well put together!

I bet we've had something like that too (kind of heard about it on the ION radio) but it didn't make the news. Probably pretty routine.
