Yeah the plaza isn't staying. The next 3 towers and office block will go right where that is. The 44 floor tower will be closest to King, the 36 floor tower will be in the middle and the 32 floor tower will be the furthest away from King.

I'm shocked the businesses are all still open and operating. Hopefully they've found alternate locations

The city sent me the documents a bit ago. It’s dated June 2019 and only mentions 4 residential towers and a 10 storey commercial building, and not the 5th and final big tower. So I think it might be an outdated version, it doesn’t include the render acer posted above. It does give the height of tower B 93m. C = 100 and D =120

That's an outdated rendering, though still very similar to the design they went with. You can see updated renderings of the Union Towers on Architizer: https://architizer.com/projects/station-park/ as well as some architectural sketches of the other 3 towers here: https://www.waterlooregionconnected.com/...6#pid89346

There's also a video of the acrylic tabletop models of the project here, though it lacks the 44 floor tower (but it does show the 10 floor office tower that will now be attached to it) as that was not yet conceived when the sales building went up, where they had the acrylic models: https://videos.ctfassets.net/bo97ukda0u2...020-sm.mp4

I understand that they were given a reprieve for a couple of years. Probably it was mentioned in this forum before construction started.

Is the south plaza the one with the subway? Isn't Zehrs office in that plaza as well?

Yes. There is also a Korean grocery, a convenience store, a church and a couple of other businesses.

I believe it was, and some were alarmed by this, thinking that nothing was going to be built on this site at all. Glad this was wrong though.

Wait, Kitchener has a subway? Why haven’t heard about this before? Seems that should have come up in the LRT debates…

There is a subway, but it only has a single stop so it doesn't get much use.

A pretty good take on this was posted to Reddit a while back.
