On the bright side for that block, this sign is up on 100 Queen St S (unit to the left of where Goldie's Convenience is going in)

Walmart will be closing their Stanley Park Mall location and turning the one at Fairview Park Mall into a Supercentre: https://www.kitchenertoday.com/local-new...re-3545768

The Supercentre at Fairview Park gives another grocery option for people living in the area. Unfortunate about the loss of the Stanley park store for those living in the area. I do remember seeing another post on this forum for leasing at Stanley park that showed the walmart being replaced with a Shoppers.

What's a Supercentre? Is it just a bigger Walmart?

This is apparently becoming a Canadian Tire: https://fcr.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/1...L_2020.pdf

It seems like it is a bit small for Canadian Tire. I assume that would replace the very small Victoria St. location?

Wonder which direction they will expand in? At the front or side (by the little garden centre)? Not much room at the back I wouldn't think?(03-15-2021, 04:41 PM)tomh009 Wrote: What's a Supercentre? Even inside, there is not much there, a "reno" in a store like this is mostly flooring, possibly a new ceiling, some paint, new shelving etc.

It is an old building with low ceilings and it is ugly.....

The mall itself is an older building, built in the late 1960s and its reno in 2007 was about $35M.
With the right work the store it can be brought into the current millennium. I believe the Woolco addition was from the 70s. Remove the dropped ceiling, change the lighting and reclad the exterior and it will look okay. 16M in upgrades will go pretty far in what is generally a box.
