Are those 2 buildings being saved because they are heritage? Don't they seem like they will be out of place?

The two red-brick buildings? (Which really are linked together.) Vive didn't buy those properties so the heritage status never actually came up.

If it's the two houses in question, they're staying as they have heritage protection for their architecture. From Vive:
Quote:A modern Miesian addition to one of the oldest street in Kitchener – Queen Street South, this high rise building will offer the community an attainable downtown living experience, while sharing the streetscape with two important homes in the Victoria Park Heritage landscape. This intentionally simple design is intended to contract the ornate, preserved homes on the same property, while celebrating our four season condition in Canada with a playful and colourful art band at the roofline. You can see them here in this rendering:

Yes, thanks.
Just thought since the building is right behind those 2 houses, it's somewhat out of place. They don't blend in with he building (ie. Building built around them). They literally look like they block what would be a few balconies (Maybe they won't opt to build units right there)...but from other balconies one could jump on the roof. K-W, Even the core, is not THAT hard up for space, c'mon now.

Momo's question was right after a photo that didn't show them (but did show the neighbouring properties), hence my confusion.

The building is only 8 floors of residential and the other 2 are parking, so no units behind those houses

The hip roofs from the heritage houses affect the first floor of residential. Look a little closer. there's roughly a little less than 2m limiting distance between the face of the new building and the back of the heritage homes |
