That's terrific! I really didn't think that the image would ever be quite that clear. While I love it, I wonder what experts will say about this as a way to evoke heritage (i.e. is this successful architecture?)?

I'm no expert, but I think this is great -- as long as we don't overdo it and build half the new buildings with this approach. I think that's a pretty low risk.

Agreed. I think this one is great. I don’t really recall, however — how close in appearance is the image in the glass to the original Mayfair? And how did they make the image?

It's a photographic reproduction of the original hotel (without the later addition), no?

The window design is very much the same, even if the colour is different (colour choice may be a limitation of the fritted glass).

It's close enough - if that was the intent - likely with a more appealing and friendly color in the end.
It's too bad to see the classic architecture go but this is a good replacement.

It's too bad to see the classic architecture go but this is a good replacement. Frit is limited to white & black pixels. When the planes are viewed up close you can see it's all whit and/or black pointalism creating the image. Mayfair layout & masonry details are 100% historically accurate.

Why is that? If I understand what I read just quickly a moment ago, it involve fusing small bits of ceramic onto the glass. Why can’t the ceramic be different colours?
That being said, I think it looks great just as it is, and would consider it a very attractive artistic choice regardless of what is possible.

I compared them a while back before all of the glass was in place and I thought that they looked different. The "roof line" doesn't look the same.

The image is of the original 1905 structure, without the 1929 addition on top.

New permit in the system, 20-121538.
Quote:Permit is for an interior alteration to create a Royal Bank of Canada.
Guess that answers what's going on the ground floor.
