185 King St S | 7 fl | Proposed

If you look at what was posted on the previous page and other subsequent comments, that was a rendering that was designed for another developer who made a bid for this project and did not win. That is not Perimeter’s proposal.

As of ~2 weeks ago when I went by the demolition was done but nothing more. Just a flat surface level dirt field.

Don’t think construction on this is slated to start until sometime next year.

Thanks - I think your post just saved me from making a big mistake, namely: purchasing a 6th floor south-facing unit at Circa 1877 (your picture shows that it's view would be obliterated, and explains why 2 of the 2 units listed for sale are both next to each other on that floor).

Does anyone know now who the main tenant at this address will be?

Another one in development hell. There's 0 market for office buildings like this anymore. Definitely not going to happen in it's current form. It will be changed again to a residential/mixed use building for sure.

Yes and that could make the height even taller than 7-8 floors, impacting views for that entire side of the “circa 1877” building. I’d like to know: would the city allow construction of a tall building directly next to an existing tall building? It would look pretty ridiculous with pretty much empty space around the 2 in all directions.

I think office buildings will make a return eventually. A lot of companies are retiring the work from home stuff. Just yesterday Dell Inc. stated that all staff will have to suck it up and go back to the office 5 days a week. I think if we pushed for a 4 day work week for some industries, then it'd be easier to get people to return to office without freaking out.

I can see why people resist in Toronto, Atlanta or NYC, where commutes take an hour-plus each way. But in KW, most people can be in the office between 10 and 20 minutes, not terribly onerous to do three or four times a week.

Not terrible onerous to do it every work day.

Depends on your life situation. But is this really something you want to advocate for? I wouldn't.
