House of Friendship housing project (Charles St E/Eby St) | 10 + 7 fl | Proposed
#16
Wow significant downgrade in design in my opinion. Understandable since this is an income geared housing project funded by a non profit. Still a little disappointing. It's really the main floor that is letter this building down, since they got rid of the 3-story "podium" design, I think they should have just carried the white precast with colourful windows all the way down to ground level. The grey brick looks out of place.

Obviously money is limited. Everything is significantly more expensive, especially because these types of builds pay a significant charge in regard to the Carbon Tax, as you probably know, not to mention inflation in general.

That said, it's needed and glad to see it proceeding.

Has anybody noticed any changes in neighbourhood dynamics since the House of Friendship moved from DTK over to Weber St in Waterloo?

In Cedar Hill? Not noticeable in my fairly frequent walks through the neighbourhood. But someone actually living there might have a different opinion.

It still has that sleazy-on-the-surface vibe but that has always existed in the Cedar/Eby area but overall the dynamics of that neighbourhood haven't changed much.
