Developer plans to retain part of early Schneiders factory in Kitchener residential project
The two-storey red brick building at 63 Courtland Ave. E. in Kitchener was home to J.M. Schneider’s butcher business from about 1909 to 1925, when it moved to the larger Courtland Avenue plant.

Thanks, much easier to envision the original part of the building now!
I do wonder what was on the right side (not original but one of the additions) that is now blocked by gray brick.

I'm glad they're keeping that, though the whole structure could have been maintained and with creative architecture, integrated into the new project. Still, nice to see some preservation of local cultural history.

Here is a photo of the building attached to (what presumably was) an existing house (which was not Schneider's original home — that was down the street). This has a photo of the building after it was expanded, but still Schneider's.
