Developer: Drewlo

A 8 floor residential building is under construction at 599 Strasburg road. The building will be 8 floors and will have 1 floor of underground parking. The building will have 140 rental units over the 8 floors. There are currently no renders for the property. From the site plan on the City's Interactive Mapping Software the building appears to be L shaped with the building closest to Blockline/Strasburg.

The site was originally cleared of vegetation in preparation for the development in 2012 but limited work had been done on it since then until this past summer. Soil was removed from the site but then replaced with fill from another site in the time it sat empty but that was all that was done on the site since it was cleared of vegetation in 2012. Currently the site has shoring activities occurring as well as excavation. There are numerous pieces of heavy equipment on site with 5 excavators on site as of today as well as other machinery. The tower crane base has been delivered to the site but there is no rebar on site as of yet. There are a few posts in the General Suburban Updates thread about this project including a image. The site looks like this as of today:

Foundation walls are complete along both of the street sides, and the crane base is in!

All the parts for the tower crane have arrived on site over the last 2 days with the exception of the slewing unit so the tower crane should be going up soon. The shoring drill is also no longer on site.

RE: 599 Strasburg Rd | 8 fl | U/C - ZEBuilder - 11-25-2021

As expected the tower crane is going up.

They got as far as your photo yesterday but nothing proceeded today. Likely holding off due to wind.

Crane assembly is complete.

Damn, that's impressive.

I guess foundation pouring in the middle of winter is pretty common now.

Two and a half months on, the slab has the first level of walls. These are cast in place, which differs from its neighbour which is using precast.

They will have this one done before even one tower on King street !!

I don't understand why Drewlo doesn't do precast concrete. Is it that much more expensive?
