RE: Grand River Transit - yige_t - 12-02-2016 Cambridge Centre Terminal to open December 19: http://www.grt.ca/en/aboutus/cambridge-centre-station.asp RE: Grand River Transit - Pheidippides - 12-02-2016 Electronic Fare Management Update: http://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/regionalGovernment/resources/PW/PA2016-1206.pdf#page=35 "The project is expected to be completed in summer 2017 with ticket vending equipment and platform validators being installed at ION stations afterward." "A minor delay due to the farebox software configuration slowed the project roll-out. This configuration issue has been addressed, and installations will take place from January to March, 2017." "Once installation begins, five buses will receive the new farebox per day. Completed buses will enter service on the following day using the new farebox." "Ticket Vending Machines and Platform Validators for ION platforms are expected to be delivered to the Region in early 2017. The first devices will be installed in the EFMS lab at 85 Chandler Drive for staff testing." RE: Grand River Transit - Pheidippides - 12-02-2016 Seems like a waste to rebuild this driveway at UW to what it was, when it is only going to be widened in a few months, but I guess that is one of the problems with the P3 contract that changes are so expensive mid-contract: RE: Grand River Transit - Markster - 12-02-2016 (12-02-2016, 08:48 PM)Pheidippides Wrote: Seems like a waste to rebuild this driveway at UW to what it was, when it is only going to be widened in a few months, but I guess that is one of the problems with the P3 contract that changes are so expensive mid-contract: I don't imagine they'll be changing the railway crossing portion of that, when they build the bus mall. I don't think the entrance is as tight as you think it is. It used to handle large UW cargo trucks with no problem, even the rare times they went in both directions simultaneously. RE: Grand River Transit - goggolor - 12-04-2016 Jane Mitchell posted on Twitter in response to a question about the #7 detours in Uptown Waterloo, "Detours end on Wednesday": https://twitter.com/janemitchell/status/805242608045981696 RE: Grand River Transit - jwilliamson - 12-04-2016 Does anyone know what the new routing will be? It looks like they could run on King as far as Agnes, then detour onto Park to get around the underpass work. RE: Grand River Transit - Markster - 12-04-2016 My pessimistic bet is that they continue to detour to Park at William until construction is 100% complete. RE: Grand River Transit - KevinL - 12-04-2016 Agnes would be problematic given the elementary school on the corner, but Green or Mount Hope could work. RE: Grand River Transit - Pheidippides - 12-05-2016 GRT tweeted that the seven will go Park to William to King with Nb stops at William and Caroline and King and Erb while SB stops are at King and Erb and King and William. https://mobile.twitter.com/GRT_ROW/status/805772985416249344 I had thought that they would go back to the Park to Union to King detour, but maybe there was too much of a time penalty getting from Park to King on Union. I was once on that bus at rush hour. Union in front of Sun Life is congested almost to a standstill. What would be wrong with Wellington-Duke-Victoria? For the iXpress this would even mean that no actual stops would be affected. RE: Grand River Transit - bpoland - 12-05-2016 King and Wellington is closed, probably until spring (the rails aren't even laid across Wellington yet). They could temporarily pave the centre of the intersection. The rest of it is already paved. If they’re not working on it actively the intersection should be opened up. Or they could finish up laying the rails through the intersection and then it would be done. We’re talking several months here, not just a few days. |
