It was lowering a small cement mixer vehicle, and overbalanced.  Comments in the video imply that the stabilizers were not deployed.  Looking at that picture, you can see that the far-side stabilizer is pretty clearly not deployed, though that one wouldn't have saved it.

See! LRT is bad news.  Tongue

I think ION definitely wins on the livery and vehicle front. Those vehicles look terrible, imo.

Big Grin

I didn't want to say it, but I agree. I admit to some local bias but about the only thing I kind of like is the maple leaf styling. The rest is really bad - the windows (and lack of black between them), the farings up top (those huge gaps - which, I get, are probably functional), and the awful attempt at a "crystal" nose cone (see Dubai Tram or Strasbourg for how to do this right)... all add up to a pretty ugly vehicle.

I guess they do go really fast. Smile

I hate them solely for the door layout.

RE: Ottawa LRT - Canard - 05-23-2017

Me too, and the asymmetric bogie configuration which drove it. Such a hodge-podge.

RE: Ottawa LRT - Coke6pk - 06-05-2017

The only (above ground) stop I passed on this trip (Blair):

[Still hope we go OVER the 401 to have the same visability/LRT awareness that the pedestrian walkways over the 417 have here with the "CATCH IT HERE IN 2018" plastered across the highway! Smile  ]

Justin Trudeau promises more than $1B for Phase 2 LRT funding

RE: Ottawa LRT - Markster - 06-16-2017

The growth of the Ottawa LRT system is going to be ridiculous over the next few years.

That article says Phase 2 will add 38km!
System size:
2001: 8 km
2018: 20.5 km
2023: 58.5 km

And I guarantee by 2022, they'll be talking about the Kanata extension. Politically it will be impossible to avoid, if they're already jumping the Greenbelt to Orleans.

Politically indeed - is there any way at all to make an economic case for extension to Kanata?

Barrhaven/Manotick would also be an eventuality.

This handy map shows the planned Phase 2 enhancements, and existing BRT. http://www.stage2lrt.ca/where/

Easy to see where future LRT could be considered.

The train is coming: LRT stations taking shape as Belfast berm removed

Looking forward to the light show at Lyon, and seeing lots more testing this summer.
