It annoys me when the Record carries stories like that without mentioninng whether/how many new jobs will result.

Does anyone have any idea how much of the plant Air Boss actually uses?

I don't think that James E. Wagner Cultivation (JWC) has its own thread (yet?), but I see that they have officially opened the first phase of their operation in the former Lear Seating plant on Manitou Dr, with plans to hire 400 employees.

Pretty good news, a company has bought Intelligent Mechatronics Systems after the company went into receivership earlier this year. Trak Global Group plans to invest and grow the company.
According to this article IMS had 118 employees in 2017 and is now down to 65.

There goes the neighbourhood... :-)

Let's hope that the existing, promised capital investments, both from private and public sources of support, materialize.

I work near there and the building was sold about a month ago. All the tanks they were building are now gone off the site, and they had an online auction for surplus equipment. It actually is strange now seeing a large empty lot without those large tanks they were building there.

With the shutdown at Clemmer, it’s a bad week for manufacturing in the Region.

The Clemmer property is walking distance to R&T Park Ion. Lots of possibilities for development.

I don't know if this has been mentioned earlier but it's good news for Kitchener-Waterloo.  Cambridge cybersecurity firm eSentire plans move to Waterloo from Cambridge.  According to this article 300 jobs will be moved from Cambridge to Waterloo.

Quote:The company has outgrown its current office and the new location in an area of Waterloo branded as the Idea Quarter will help with recruiting developer talent coming out of the University of Waterloo, said Yersh.

The Factory Square location is next to the LRT station in the David Johnston Research and Technology Park and very close to UW.

"Where we are in Cambridge isn't necessarily the easiest bus ride to get to if you don't have a car," said Yersh. "And you know the struggles with the 401 even coming down here with a car isn't the easiest either."

Those people in Cambridge who are opposed to the LRT should look at this and reconsider their opposition.
